Journal of Taiwan Literary Studies-Submission Guidelines

1. The Journal of Taiwan Literary Studies is a biannual journal published by the National Taiwan Museum of Literature. The journal appears in April and October every year, and submission deadlines for each issue are in December and June respectively. However, submissions are accepted throughout the year.

2. The Journal welcomes original manuscripts from researchers specializing in different areas of Taiwan literature. The Journal publishes three main types of articles: themed articles, general articles (or non-themed articles), and other articles (including literature criticism, literature review, research trends, and book reviews). The word limit for themed articles and general articles is 30,000 Chinese characters, and for other genres it is 5,000 Chinese characters. English articles (both themed and general) are limited to 5,000-10,000 words (including bibliography and abstract) and other articles are limited to 5,000 words.

3. Submissions need to be original content in a field related to Taiwan literature and be written in either Chinese (or languages native to Taiwan) or English.  If the paper is part of a personal degree thesis, it must be rewritten prior to submission. In addition, articles submitted to this Journal may not, at the same time, be submitted in their entirety to, or published in any other periodical or book. We do not accept translations, reportage, academic theses or dissertations, or articles from a published collection of conference papers. All submitted articles go through the editorial board and are sent to academic scholars and experts for evaluation using the double-blind peer review process. Following intial review, a final decision regarding which selections to publish is made by the editorial board. Authors of articles accepted for publication will receive two copies of the relevant issue of the Journal and twenty offprints of the article. There is no remuneration given for articles accepted for publication.

4. Submitted articles should include the following: article title, abstract (300 to 500 Chinese characters or English words), keywords (three to six keywords), main text, appendix, and reference list. (Once your article is accepted, you are also required to submit an abstract and keywords in English.)

5. Please prepare your article using Word format and submit a digital copy via e-mail as an attachment to: journal@nmtl.gov.tw. Please also send a hard copy in paper format along with a completed author information form to the following address:
